International Competition for Mandolin 2002

In order to promote the art of mandolin playing and to enable comparison at an international level, „Musikforum Schweinfurt e.V.“ is holding the „International Competition for Mandolin 2002“.

• The competition is open to all mandolinists. It is for mandolin alone,
or with an accompanying instrument (piano, harpsichord, guitar, etc.)
The baroque mandolin can be used, but will not be judged preferentially.
The „Cremonese mandolin“ (single strings) is not admissible.

• The fee for participation is EUR 25,--. This sum is to be remitted at the time of application to account no. 38034 at the bank „Städtische Sparkasse Schweinfurt“ (Bank code BLZ 793 500 00). Please enclose a copy of the receit.

• Travel and accomodation costs are to be met by the participant.

• Performance for adjudication are open to the public.

• The jury’s decision is final. Legal appeal is precluded.

• With the application, participants agree to recording for documentation purposes and for broadcast.


Order of events:
November 5th, 2002 evening: welcome to competitors
and allotment of order for the first round
November, 6th - 9th competition in three adjucation rounds
November, 9th final round and concluding concert
Participants will receive a detailed schedule adequate time before the beginning of the competition.
Prizes:
1. Prize EUR 2.000,-- and a baroque mandolin
donated by Frank-Peter und Markus Dietrich, Erlbach (EUR 2.250,--)
2. Prize EUR 1.500,--
3. Prize EUR 1.000,--

*) 20th Century works must be in written form. Three copies of the music must be placed at the disposal of the jury for the duration of the competition.
